#LondonAttacks: 'Together we will continue to uphold the values that make us peaceful, democratic, open and tolerant societies' - Juncker
The London Metropolitan Police have confirmed that seven members of the public have died and 48 people are injured. The three assailants are dead, writes Catherine Feore.
Late yesterday evening (3 June) a vehicle struck pedestrians on London Bridge. The vehicle continued to drive from London Bridge to Borough Market where the assailants left the vehicle and stabbed a number of people. The suspects were shot dead by armed officers.
The police believe that the incident is under control. However, a large cordon remains in the area around London Bridge and Borough Market and there are many officers on the scene.
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker wrote to British Prime Minister Theresa May to express his condolences. Juncker wrote that he had watched the events unfold in horror. He wrote that the attacks would not undermine "our resilience, our compassion or our democracies".

National campaigning, just five days before the British general election has been suspended.
Little is as yet known about the victims, but we know that there are French among the injured. Emmanuel Macron said France was "more than ever at the side of the United Kingdom".
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: “We don't yet know the full details, but this was a deliberate and cowardly attack on innocent Londoners and visitors to our city enjoying their Saturday night. I condemn it in the strongest possible terms. There is no justification whatsoever for such barbaric acts.”
We are all shocked and angry today - but this is our city. We will never let these cowards win and we will never be cowed by terrorism. pic.twitter.com/kcosumkdCR
