Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly. Less confrontational approach to drug use
The Standing Committee of the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly has adopted a report calling for a more holistic and less confrontational approach to drug use. Scottish Nationalist member Hannah Bardell had seen for herself how a "drug consumption" room works in Strasbourg and her report calls for drug users to be seen as victims, not criminals. Around the world some 35-million people suffer from drug dependency and Ms. Bardell wants a respect for human rights to play a part in their treatment.
