Corruption scandal in the second interim government of the Bulgarian President Rumen Radev
The Bulgarian Commission for Counteracting Corruption and Illegal Assets Forfeiture has transmitted to the prosecutor’s office all materials from an inspection carried out at the Ministry of Health of Bulgaria. Subject of the inspection of the Commission for counteracting corruption was the deal for the purchase of rapid antigen tests for pupils in Bulgaria. The inspection found data on committed crimes of corruption.
At the core of the inspection of the Bulgarian Anti-corruption Commission is the Minister of Health Stoycho Katsarov. He was chosen and appointed minister in the two interim governments of pro-Russian Bulgarian President Rumen Radev. The investigation of the transaction with the antigen tests started on 9 December last year following media reports and publications for serious irregularities in the selection of contractors committed by the team of Minister Stoycho Katsarov. The dismissed at the end of the term of the caretaker government deputy Minister of Health Dimitar Petrov also made accusations of irregularities in the procurement procedure.
In the course of the inspection documents were requested from the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health and all participants in the procedures were questioned. The Anti-corruption Commission ascertained that certain commercial companies were tolerated and certain deliveries were delayed as a result of which certain companies benefited and this led to prejudicing the budget of the Ministry of Health.
