France had hottest month of October since 1945
October 2022 will be the hottest October in France since 1945 records began, according to Meteo-France, a national weather agency.
The average temperature was close to 17 degrees Celsius (63 F) and it was three to four degrees higher than normal. This month's record was October 2001 when the average temperature was 16.3C.
The second half was marked by an intense and prolonged period of extremely high temperatures. Bordeaux, in the southwest, registered the highest temperature reading since records began on October 16.
Meteo-France stated that unusual heat periods late in the year or early in years are likely to increase due to climate change.
European beach resorts have extended their season because of the unseasonable warmth that kept tourists coming to the coast.
