The centrist French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron is slightly ahead of its main left-wing opponent in the first round this month's parliamentary election, according to an Ipsos/Cevipof poll published by Le Monde newspaper.

Macron's Ensemble bloc wins 28% of the votes, while the left-wing Nupes bloc gets 27.5%. Voting will take place on 12 and 19 June.

The French parliament has 289 seats, so Macron's centrist party is expected to win between 315 and 275 seats. To implement pro-business reforms, Macron must have a majority.
