Get to know Philippe Lamberts

Concerning the presidency of the European Commission, Lamberts has made clear that the Greens will not support a candidate who was not put forth during the European elections. Commenting on British Prime Minister Cameron and the post of the Commission President he says: "If a majority of heads of state and government want to appoint Juncker, then he should be appointed, or nominated, by the heads of state and government. The UK can't always be in the majority."Philippe Lamberts, who previously worked in IT and has four children, was first elected as an MEP in 2004 with the Greens. During the last legislative term of the EP, he was a member of the Committees on Economic and Monetary Affairs; Industry, Research and Energy; and the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China.
