France's health body warns of resurgence of COVID virus in the country
France's national health-care body warned Friday (16 September) about a resurgence in COVID-19-related cases. It urged citizens to continue getting vaccinated to protect their health.
According to the Sante Publique France (SPF), there were 186 confirmed cases of COVID in France during week 5-11 September. This is an increase of 12% over the previous week and represents an average of 18,000 new cases each day.
Emer Cooke, the executive director of the European Medicines Agency, stated last week that Europe's citizens should get any COVID-19 booster vaccination available, due to the expected fall increase in infection rates.
Since 10 days, new infections have steadily increased. On Thursday (15 September), the seven-day moving mean of daily new cases per day reached a high of 24,042 (an almost five-weeks-high).
