SHARE:
Jean-Claude Juncker will be grilled by political groups this week ahead of the Parliament vote on his candidacy for the European Commission presidency during the 14-17 July plenary session. In addition, the Parliament's committees and sub-committees elect their new chairs and vice-chairs during their first meeting on Monday (7 July).
This Monday the Parliament´s 20 committees and two sub-committees, which were formed during last week's plenary session, elect their chair and up to four vice-chairs for the coming term during their first post-election constitutive meetings. Political groups meet directly with Juncker on Tuesday and Wednesday. In order to secure the presidency, the former prime minister of Luxembourg must win the votes of a majority of members within the Parliament at the July plenary vote. On 15 July, MEPs will debate with Juncker during the plenary session, which will be followed by the official vote for Commission president.
