Commission clears acquisition of Weltec by DWS and MunichRe
The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control of Weltec Holding GmbH (‘Weltec') of Germany by DWS Alternatives Global Limited (‘DWS') of the UK and Münchener Rückversicherungs-Gesellschaft Aktiengesellschaft in München (‘MunichRe') of Germany.
The transaction relates primarily to the operation of biogas and biomethane plants and the trading of its outputs, including electricity, heat and fertiliser in Germany.
The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given the limited impact in the European Economic Area and the companies' limited combined market position resulting from the proposed transaction. The notified transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
More information is available on the Commission's competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.11265.
