20141208PHT83052_originalCandidate Chair of the EU Single Resolution Board (SRB) Elke König (DE) (pictured), was quizzed by Parliament's Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee at a public hearing on Monday. Ms König and five other candidates for Board positions were nominated by the European Commission on Friday 5 December.

The committee will hear the following candidates on Tuesday 9 December from 09h30 to 13h.
For Vice Chair:

  • Timo Löyttyniemi (FI)

Other board members:

  • Mauro Grande (IT)
  • Antonio Carrascosa (ES)
  • Joanne Kellermann (NL)
  • Dominique Laboureix (FR)

The proposed candidates were chosen through an open selection procedure and exchanges of views with Parliament on the basis of shortlists of candidates. These exchanges took place on 19 November and on 1 December 2014.

The committee is to vote on the candidates on Monday 15 December at a special meeting in Strasbourg. The vote in plenary session is scheduled for Wednesday 17 December (tbc).
If Parliament approves the Commission's proposed candidate for each post, then it will be up to the Council (acting by qualified majority) to decide on the appointments.

The chair, vice chair and board members are appointed for a limited term; the chair for an initial three years, renewable once for a further five years; and the vice chair and Board Members for five years, non-renewable.
