106186-logo-eu-prosunSince the end of 2013, EU anti-dumping measures have resulted in tariffs and minimum import prices for solar cells and modules from China.  But almost immediately after the imposition of these measures Chinese manufacturers started to circumvent and violate EU requirements.

Despite action by the European Commission more than 30 European solar manufacturers have been wiped directly as a result of violations by Chinese solar exporters.

EU customs authorities have been investigating fraudulent practices by Chinese manufacturers and EU importers  - and criminal investigations have commenced. The European Commission is also planning new sanctions against several Chinese manufacturers.

The solar case highlights exactly why China cannot be considered a market economy by the European Union.

EU ProSun (The Sustainable Solar Energy Initiative for Europe) is holding a special briefing in Brussels to discuss the following topics:

  • New actions by EU ProSun to prevent anti-competitive and destructive dumping from China.
  • Status of the EU trade dispute with China.
  • Current status of the solar industry in Europe.
  • Obligations and risks for importers into the EU - from wholesalers to solar system owners.
