The third edition of Expat Financial Affairs has been organized by Brussels law firm De Broek Van Laere and Partners in co-operation with the British Chamber of Commerce.

It takes place at the Vlerick Business School on 3 October from 10h30 to 16h30.

Marc Quaghebeur, a partner, will be presenting a workshop “Cross border Estate Planning: what is really new in 2015”.

He said: "There have been quite a few interesting developments of late and all with be up for discusssion. These include the EU Succession Directive that will apply the same law to your entire estate and the Flemish reduced gift tax rates for real property."

Other recent developments under discussion at the event will be plans of the Brussels finance minister that would allow you to leave your estate to a friend or distant relative at the rate for children.

The so called Cayman Tax that will make planning with trusts just a bit more difficult will also be debated.

There will be 14 speakers in all and the event is intended for all expatriates living in Belgium who may have questions about money issues such as estate planning, inheritance tax and other tax issues, financial planning, pension planning, investment products and general economic issues.

Participation is free. However, in light of the interest in the event (and the success of the previous editions), it is advisable to register in advance at www.expatfinancialaffairs.be
