FEP supports proposal of Italian government concerning books
The Italian Publishers Association has informed the Federation of European Publishers (FEP) that the Italian Government introduced in a draft law the proposal that when an Italian person buys books can deduct from the income tax 19% of what he/she paid.
FEP President Piotr Marciszuk wrote to the Italian prime minister and the relevant Italian ministers: "This is a very concrete measure that can lead the way at European level for book promotion, and show very clearly how much the Italian Government believe on the role of reading and, more in general, of culture for the future of our society, including for economic development. European publishers appreciate very much your commitment in this and we hope that your example will be the first of many similar initiatives in Europe."
