This week Parliament holds a ceremony to commemorate Holocaust victims, debates the future of Europe with the Finnish prime minister and assesses rule of law issues in Hungary.

At the start of its plenary session in Brussels, taking place on Wednesday  (30 January) and Thursday (31 January), Parliament holds a ceremony to pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust.

On Wednesday, Parliament reviews recent developments in Hungary regarding the rule of law and fundamental rights.

The following day, MEPs continue their series of debates with EU leaders on the future of Europe with Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipilä.

To step up transparency, Parliament votes on Thursday on a series of changes to its internal rulebook, including transparency rules and measures to prevent harassment.

At the beginning of the plenary session, decisions will be taken on adding debates on Brexit and the latest developments in Venezuela to the week’s agenda.

Meanwhile the civil liberties committee votes on Tuesday (29 January) on a new law granting visa-free travel for UK citizens. It will be applicable after Brexit and in case EU citizens travelling to the UK are also exempt from visa requirements.
