President Ursula von der Leyen, Executive Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis (pictured) and Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni will participate in this year's edition of the Brussels Economic Forum (BEF), taking place today (29 June). Over the past 20 years, the BEF has become the flagship annual economic event of the European Commission, gathering high-level policymakers, academics, civil society and business leaders to discuss key challenges and policy priorities for the European economy. The 2021 BEF will consider approaches to building the post-COVID-19 economy we want to create. This year the opening address will be delivered by Ursula von der Leyen, president of the Commission.

Other distinguished speakers include: Angela Merkel, Federal Chancellor of Germany; Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand; Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank; and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization. The conference will be live-streamed on the BEF website and participants will have the opportunity to submit their questions to speakers through a Q&A on Sli.do. Participants can join the #EUBEF21 conversation on social media and follow DG ECFIN on Twitter and Facebook for updates. Further details and the programme are available here.
