This time it's different: Pre-election seminar
With just under three weeks until the first polling stations open for the European elections, the Parliament hosts journalists from across the continent this 5-6 May to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the European Union. Speakers will address a range of issues: from the impact of the Lisbon Treaty on the upcoming elections to the Union's future direction.
On Tuesday (6 April), former European Central Bank president Jean-Claude Trichet will discuss the economic and geopolitical challenges and opportunities facing the EU. Other speakers include Parliament Vice President Anni Podimata, Commissioner Connie Hedegaard, MEPs and senior parliament officials, who will talk about a range of issues relating to the elections.
