Ebola outbreak and terrorism in Africa on ACP-EU parliamentary meeting agenda

20140317PHT39121_originalThe ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA) will meet from 1 to 3 December 2014 in Strasbourg (France) to debate the Ebola virus outbreak and terrorism in Africa. The plenary debates will be preceded over the weekend by meetings of the JPA standing committees and the women’s forum.
Migration, small island developing states and Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as malnutrition in ACP countries, private sector development and national reconciliation in post-conflict countries will top the debates at this 28th session of the Joint Parliamentary Assembly.The keynote debate, entitled 'Yes! Africa can live up to its ambitions!', will focus on how Africa’s unprecedented economic growth (4% in 2013) and natural assets can help to boost employment, productivity, income and economic and social development.

The formal sitting of the 28th ACP-EU JPA will be opened on 1 December by its co-presidents Louis Michel (ALDE, BE) and Fitz A. Jackson (Jamaica).

In principle, the Joint Parliamentary Assembly meets alternately in an ACP country and in the EU.
