The European Parliament has honoured 47 people from across the EU with this year's Citizen's Prize for their contribution to European cooperation and the promotion of common values. The list of the winners was published on 3 June, after a consultation of the 74 proposals that made it through to the national juries.

European Parliament Vice President and Citizens' Prize Jury President Sylvie Guillaume, a French member of the S&D group,  said: "The European Citizen's Prize 2015 jury has honoured the efforts of citizens to provide health care for the poorest, food aid, rescue, solidarity, education, the fight against radicalization and the protection of LGBTI rights... European citizens whose daily work is essential to the social cohesion of our countries and I am glad that the Parliament could honour them."
The national award ceremonies will be followed by a central ceremony, to be held in October 2015 in the Parliament in Brussels.

The European Citizen’s Prize

Since 2008 the Parliament awards the European Citizen’s Prize every year to projects and initiatives that facilitate cross-border cooperation or promote mutual understanding within the EU. The prize, which has symbolic value, is also intended to acknowledge the work of those who through their day-to-day activities promote European values.
