European Parliament recommendations to the Commission on its 2016 work programme
Parliament’s recommendations for the European Commission’s 2016 work programme will be set out in a non-legislative resolution to be voted on Wednesday afternoon. The Commission will present its priorities for the 12 months ahead to Parliament in Stasbourg at the end of October.
UN Sustainable Development Summit: Curtain-raising debate
Prospects for achieving the goals of the post-2015 global development agenda, to be formally approved at a UN Summit in New York on 25-27 September, will be debated by MEPs on Wednesday. A delegation of MEPs will take part in the summit, where 17 already-agreed sustainable development goals - including ending poverty, inequalities and hunger and ensuring healthy lives and sustainable use of natural resources - will be formally approved.
