20151021PHT98616_originalThe European Parliament's guest photographer contest ran from January until September, inspired by 2015 being the European Year for Development. The Parliament received hundreds of outstanding photos from all around Europe, the best of which will feature in an exposition at the Parliament's Bronisław Geremek Agora in Strasbourg this November. The public winner, whose photo received the most likes on Facebook and Google+, is Rosabella De Angelis, while the jury prize winner is Éva Szabó.

De Angelis said about her winning photo: "Dojo means place (jō) where you follow the way (dō), the perfect unity of mind and body. It’s a place of concentration, learning, friendship and respect. The aim of this great educational project is the formation of a responsible citizen."

Szabó also explained how she created her winning photo: "I travelled to Röszke at the Hungarian-Serbian border from where I accompanied the migrants to the contemporary camp set up there to offer aid and shelter for a couple of hours or nights. My photo shows the long hours of waiting and uncertainty about their future. I mostly focus on children: they are the greatest victims of this human catastrophe."

The two winners will come to Strasbourg during the November plenary session to make a photo reportage in and around the Parliament. The results will be shown on the Parliament websites as well as on social media.
