#NuitdesChoeurs comes to #Belgium
A thrilling new show is set to wow audiences in Belgium later this month, writes Martin Banks.
The Nuit des Choeurs musical spectacular takes place in the historic setting of l’abbaye de Villers-la-Ville on 26 and 27 August. This, the 17th edition of the annual event, will feature a parade of highly talented singers and artists who’ll perform amid the crumbling ruins of the old abbey which is situated between Wavre and Namur in Brabant Walloon.
The six vocalist groups will each perform several 20-minute sets in a different part of the abbey’s beautiful ruins.
This, say the organisers, will allow the audience to make sure they enjoy the musical fayre while, at the same time, not missing out on the majestic surroundings in which it is being played.
The musical is particular diverse, not just geographically but in terms of the ethnic origins of its participants.
The full list of those due to perform is available via the official website but includes French singer Michel Fugain, Murray Head, the British pop singer and Belgian choir, Scala and Kolacny.
Other performers include the national male chorus of Estonia, a leading soloist from the Budapest opera and a musical group from Corsica. At the end of the evening, all come together to perform on the stage while a spectacular fireworks display will bring the event to a close.
The event, described as the biggest promenade concert in Belgium this year, is certain to be popular so booking in advance is advisable.
Tickets range in price from €36 (bookable until 15 August) to VIP packages at €141. There are also “flexi-formula” tickets available for a small supplement.Full details are available here or by calling 02 736 0129.
