On 21 March 2018 from 13h to 15h, in room PHS6B001, the European Parliament will host the first edition of the Women’s European Council (WEUCO), organized by the European Women Alliance association (EWA), together with the vice presidents of the European Parliament Mairead McGuinness, Evelyne Gebhardt and Heidi Hautala.
The Summit aims at framing the EU agenda to take into account the gender perspective, ahead of the European Council on 22 and 23 March. It will bring together MEPs, Commissioners and Council of the European Union’s representatives, to discuss tangible actions to address gender inequality.
Among the speakers:
Antonio Tajani, president of the European Parliament
Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström
Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc
Digital Economy and Society Commissioner Mariya Gabriel
Livia Firth, WEUCO ‘s ambassador, founder and creative director of Eco Age Ltd
WEUCO will make proposals for action and endorse conclusions to be submitted to the European Parliament, the European Council, the European Commission and the Presidency of the Council of the EU. EWA aims at making WEUCO a permanent pre-Summit meeting, in order to include the gender perspective in the agenda of European Council.
We believe that women’s empowerment is key in driving the EU towards a better future based on freedom, equality, sustainable and inclusive growth.
