Fight against tax evasion

After a 12-month enquiry that included hearings with finance ministers and national authorities, Parliament's special committee looking into tax evasion and tax avoidance votes on its final report with recommendations on Wednesday (27 February).

On Tuesday (26 February), the legal affairs committee  will vote on the agreement on new copyright rules that was reached between Parliament and Council negotiators. The new rules aim to ensure that the rights and obligations of copyright law also apply to the internet and that creatives are empowered when dealing with the internet giants that own the platforms where their work is featured and shared.

Work-life balance

The employment committee votes Tuesday on new  work-life balance measures to set minimum requirements for EU countries. The objectives of the measures are to boost women’s representation in the workplace and to strengthen the role of a father or an equivalent second parent in the family.

Conference on death penalty abolition
On Wednesday 27 February, the European Parliament hosts the opening ceremony of the World Congress Against the Death Penalty, the world’s leading abolitionist event. The event is organized by the ECPM (Together against the Death Penalty) and brings together more than 1,000 stakeholders from over 140 countries.
