#EuropeanParliament set to elect its President and Vice Presidents on Wednesday

In a series of votes starting at 9h on Wednesday 3 July, MEPs will elect Parliament’s senior office holders for the next two-and-a-half years.
The deadline for submitting names of candidates for Parliament President is 22.00 today.
Before the election of the President begins, each candidate will have a maximum of five minutes to make a short statement.
The election is held by secret (paper) ballot and to be elected, a candidate must obtain an absolute majority of votes cast (50% plus 1).
Once the President has been elected, MEPs will elect 14 Vice Presidents. Voting for EP Quaestors will take place on Thursday 4 July at 9h
