Ministerial-level meeting of EU and #Kazakhstan Co-operation Council

The EU-Kazakhstan Co-operation Council is holding a ministerial-level meeting today (20 January) to discuss the current state of EU-Kazakhstan relations, and the next steps of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (ECPA) that was signed on 21 December 2015.  The EPCA with Kazakhstan is the only such agreement the European Union has with a Central Asian country.  The Kazakh delegation will be led by H.E. Mukhtar Tleuberdi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Agenda highlights

The Co-operation Council will discuss the EU-Kazakhstan partnership and cooperation agreement, political, economic and trade matters, as well as regional and international developments.

It will be chaired by Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister H. E. Gordan Grlić Radman, on behalf of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs. The Kazakh delegation will be led by Republic of Kazakhstan Foreign Affairs Minister H.E. Mukhtar Tleuberdi.

The Co-operation Council will look at the state of play and next steps concerning the Enhanced Partnership and Co-operation Agreement  (ECPA), signed on 21 December 2015.

Ministers will discuss cooperation and political, economic and trade matters — including internal reforms, rule of law and human rights.

In addition, the Co-operation Council will review regional and international developments and co-operation, along with security issues.
