The trial of the murder of Jamal Khashoggi was a parody of justice. Many voices around the world, especially in the European Parliament and the United Nations, continue to demand that justice be done and that a genuine independent international inquiry should be carried out to determine the responsibilities of each individual at all levels of power.

This morning (2 October), the European Parliament commemorated the 2nd anniversary of the death of the Saudi journalist. Marc Tarabella MEP PS and Vice President DARP (European Parliament-Arabian Peninsula delegation) co-chaired, in the European Parliament, this meeting with Baroness Helena Kennedy of the House of Lords and various speakers (annex attached) including the High Representative to the United Nations Agnes Callamard.

On this occasion, several MEPs made a statement: "We ask that Madame Von der Leyen, President of the European Commission and Charles Michel, President of the Council not go to the G20 summit which will take place in Riyadh on 21 and 22 November in Saudi Arabia, but send their officials instead.

"This is to send a strong signal from our European leaders and to let it be known that fundamental rights are not violated with impunity, that this goes totally against European values and deep respect for rights. human rights and the rule of law, fundamental principles that we tirelessly defend."
