Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson (pictured)will take part in the informal videoconference of home affairs ministers on 13 November. The meeting will begin with a discussion on stepping up the fight against terrorism on the basis of a joint statement by the EU Home Affairs Ministers on the recent terrorist attacks in Europe. Areas for discussion include the swift implementation of the existing EU rules (including for example on firearms, interoperability and anti-radicalization), the accelerated adoption of existing Commission proposals (such as the one ensuring the swift removal of terrorist content online), and new proposals (for example the strengthening of Europol's mandate).

The Commission will present on 9 December a new European Agenda on Counter-Terrorism and a reinforced mandate for Europol. A press conference with Commissioner Johansson will take place at +/- 14:45 CET, which you can follow live on EbS. In the afternoon, Ministers will discuss the key elements for a political understanding on the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, presented by the Commission on 23 September, and the way forward under the German Presidency.
