MEPs vote on Wednesday 21 November on Tonio Borg's nomination for health and consumer protection commissioner. Over the past few weeks Malta's foreign minister was subjected to an extensive examination by the Parliament to check out his suitability for the post. Follow the vote in plenary live on our website at 12.20 CET on Wednesday to find out if he has managed to convince them.

As part of Parliament's scrutiny, Mr Borg was asked to respond in writing to five questions from MEPs as well as take part in a three-hour grilling by three parliamentary committees. Assessing the suitability of future commissioners is an important part of the Parliament's supervisory powers. It also serves to enhance the transparency of the nomination process.
