Juncker to exchange views with political groups in European Parliament
This week, ahead of the European Parliament plenary vote to elect the next President of the European Commission on 15 July, the candidate for Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will meet with all political groups in the European Parliament who have invited him to exchange views. The discussions will help candidate for Commission President Juncker as he develops his political guidelines for the next European Commission, which he is expected to set out in a speech before the European Parliament plenary.

Jean-Claude Juncker was proposed as candidate for president of the European Commission by the European Council on 27 June 2014. Election of the president of the European Commission by the European Parliament is foreseen during the plenary session of 15 July in Strasbourg. In accordance with Article 17(7) TEU, a majority of the component members of the European Parliament is required for the election of the Commission President, which means 376 out of 751.
During his EU-wide campaign ahead of the European Parliament elections, Jean-Claude Juncker set out his 5 main priorities, his 5 point plan on immigration and his foreign policy objectives in three documents available to view in most EU languages in web format here and to download in PDF format here.
In its Conclusions of 27 June 2014, the European Council adopted a 'Strategic agenda for the Union in times of change', which is addressed as general political directions and priorities to the EU institutions and the Member States, in line with Article 15(1) TEU.
