#EUCO - ‘We did it! Europe is strong, Europe is united’
After a marathon five days of negotiations between Europe’s 27 heads of government, President of the European Council Charles Michel announced that a deal had been reached. The package is made up of a multi-annual budget (MFF) of €1,074 billion and an additional €750 billion to help Europe relaunch its economy following the COVID-19 crisis. Some of the harder discussions where over national rebates of the so-called ‘frugal’ states, oversight of budgetary plans of how each state spends recovery funds, the balance between grants and loans and the link between the rule of law and spending.
