Mark Demesmaeker MEP travelling to Ukraine
Tomorrow (14 May) ECR MEP Mark Demesmaeker (pictured) is travelling to Ukraine to observe the current war situation. The most interesting visit will be Mariupol, a port of crucial economic importance on the Azov Sea, where the truce is being violated every day. Yesterday three government soldiers died. Also the humanitarian situation is very critical, given the high number of internally displaced persons.
Moreover, Mark will have some high level contacts, with the president of parliament and the prime minister. They will talk about security and reform issues.
Mark is travelling to Ukraine with 'Friends of European Ukraine', a group of MEPs who try to improve the EU-Ukraine relationship and of which Mark is vice-president.
