Address by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and debate on G7

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will deliver a formal address to Parliament at 15h15 today (27 May). He is expected to address the recent refugee tragedies in the Mediterranean and to support the EU Agenda on Migration.
Ban Ki-moon last addressed the House in Strasbourg on 19 October 2010. He will meet EP President Martin Schulz immediately after his address.
Debate on G7 agenda
Following the formal sitting, MEPs will debate preparations for the 41st G7 summit in Bavaria with Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans. Development and environmental protection are set to top the agenda. The leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, the US and the EU meet on 7 and 8 June. Russia was suspended from the G8 last year following its annexation of Crimea.
