UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will deliver a formal address to Parliament at 15h15 today (27 May). He is expected to address the recent refugee tragedies in the Mediterranean and to support the EU Agenda on Migration.

Debate on G7 agenda

Following the formal sitting, MEPs will debate preparations for the 41st G7 summit in Bavaria with Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans. Development and environmental protection are set to top the agenda. The leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, the US and the EU meet on 7 and 8 June. Russia was suspended from the G8 last year following its annexation of Crimea.
