Fireworks warehouse explodes in Armenian mall, killing two and injuring 60
Two people were killed and 60 injured when blasts ripped through a fireworks store in a Yerevan shopping center on Sunday, Russian news agencies reported.
Video footage captured thick grey smoke rising from a building and then an explosion, sending people fleeing the scene.
As smoke and dust hung in the atmosphere, people were trying to remove rubble and debris from a damaged building. Others were also helping the victims.
Armenia's health ministry stated that 60 people had been injured, and 22 of them had been discharged. Telegram reported that two people were killed.
As fireworks continued to explode, firefighters were unable to control the fire, complicating the search for rescue personnel, TASS reported.
It wasn't immediately clear why the fireworks went off.
