Azerbaijani president calls snap election for February 7
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed an order to hold an early presidential election in the country. The President ordered the Central Election Commission to ensure the conduct of the snap election on February 7.
"The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan should ensure that the extraordinary presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan are scheduled for February 7, 2024," Aliyev said in an order published by the Azerbaijani presidency.
The next presidential elections in Azerbaijan were scheduled for 2025.
