Norway police have arrested a Russian citizen at Tromsoe's airport and charged him with flying a drone. This was the second such arrest in a week.

Police said that they seized large quantities of photographic equipment, including a drone, from the arrest of the 51 year-old man. He had previously admitted to flying a drone in Norway.

Russian citizens and companies are prohibited from operating an aircraft in Norway under sanctions laws.

Jacob Bergh, a police prosecutor, said that among the material seized were photos from Kirkenes airport and images of the Bell helicopter used by the defense forces.

Bergh stated that the Norwegian Police Security Service (PST), was also involved in the case.

According to police, the man is being held for four weeks by officers.

According to police, the accused claimed that he had entered Norway through the northern border of Storskog on Thursday. He was then on his way towards the arctic archipelago Svalbard.

This is the second arrest of a Russian citizen in one week for flying drones inside Norway. A third man was detained for a initial two-week-period after an arrest at Storskog's border crossing.

Norway's alertness has been raised in light of recent drone sightings near its oil and gas infrastructure and in response to 26 September leaks at the Nord Stream gas pipeline in Baltic Sea.

After a dramatic drop in Russian flows, Norway is now Europe's largest supplier of gas.
