Coming up: COVID-19 certificate, Brexit, biodiversity

MEPs will discuss the EU digital COVID-19 certificate to facilitate safe travelling, the 2030 biodiversity strategy and help to counter the consequences of Brexit in the coming week, EU affairs.

EU COVID-19 certificate

Tomorrow (26 May), the civil liberties committee votes on the introduction of the EU Digital COVID-19 Certificate, following an informal deal reached by the Parliament and the Council on 20 May. The certificate will include information about vaccination, tests and recovery from the disease, making it easier and safer for Europeans to travel during the pandemic.

Brexit support

Today (25 May), the regional development committee votes on the Brexit Adjustment Reserve, which aims to help counter the economic and social consequences of the UK withdrawing from the EU in the countries and sectors that are worst affected.

Biodiversity strategy

The environment committee votes Friday (28 May) on its response to the EU's 2030 biodiversity strategy which aims to address the main drivers of biodiversity loss and establish protected areas covering at least 30% of the EU's land and sea area.

Conflict of interest of Czech Prime Minister

Tomorrow (26 May), the budgetary control committee will agree a position on the breach of conflict of interest rules involving Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš.

EU summit

Parliament President David Sassoli met EU leaders on Monday (24 May) to discuss the EU’s response to the coronavirus crisis, the battle against climate change and relations with the UK and Russia. He will give a press conference this morning (25 May).
