Kazakhstan's economy grows 6% in Q1 2025, driven by transport and trade sectors
Kazakhstan's economy expanded by 6% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, according to the National Statistics Bureau. This growth was primarily fueled by significant increases in the transport and trade sectors.
The transport sector experienced a remarkable 22.4% growth, largely due to substantial gains in rail and pipeline transportation, which grew by 20.5% and 19.6%, respectively. The trade sector also contributed to the economic upturn, registering a 7% increase, with wholesale and retail trade sales rising by 7.4% and 6.1%, respectively.
Industrial output saw a 6.4% rise, driven by a 7.1% increase in mining activities and a 7.2% boost in manufacturing. The construction sector reported a physical volume index of 16.2%, indicating robust activity. Additionally, the agriculture and communication sectors grew by 3.9% and 2.6%, respectively.
These figures suggest that Kazakhstan's economy is on a solid growth trajectory, supported by strong performances in key sectors. The continued expansion in transport and trade, along with gains in industry and construction, underscore the country's economic resilience in the early part of 2025.
