European Parliament: The week ahead (6-12 April 2015)
The coming week is set aside for MEPs to work in their constituencies or to make delegation visits.
Tunisia. Pier Antonio Panzeri (S&D, IT), chair of the EP delegation for relations with Maghreb countries, will lead a five-member delegation to the 15th EU-Tunisia Inter-parliamentary meeting in Tunis. He will be joined by Tokia Saïfi (EPP, FR), Siôn Simon (S&D, UK), Fabio Massimo Castaldo (EFDD, IT) and Marie-Christine Vergiat (GUE/NGL, FR). This will be the first official visit by MEPs to Tunisia in this parliamentary term, coming in the wake of the Bardo Museum terrorist attack. Members will also meet Mohammed Ennaceur, Speaker of the Tunisian Assembly of the Representatives of the People, government representatives, the President of the High Independent Authority for Elections and civil society and trade union representatives. (Tuesday and Wednesday, 7-8 April)
President’s diary. EP President Martin Schulz will pay an official visit to Turkey on Wednesday and Thursday, where he will meet top Turkish officials including President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and chairs of the main parliamentary political parties. Mr. Schulz will also hold a press conference on Wednesday evening.
