#ECYP2017: 10th edition of Charlemagne Youth Prize open for applications

That is why the European Parliament and the International Charlemagne Prize Foundation award the Charlemagne Youth Prize every year. Today (31 October) we open applications for the 10th edition. If you are between 16 and 30 years old and run a project with a European dimension, do not hesitate to apply for our competition. The winning projects will benefit from recognition and media coverage as well as prize money to further develop the initiative.

The prizeThe Charlemagne Youth Prize is organized by the European Parliament and the International Charlemagne Prize Foundation in Aachen and is awarded each year to projects run by young people aged between 16 and 30. The winning projects should provide models for young people living in Europe and offer practical examples of Europeans living together as one community.

The three winning projects will be chosen from the 28 projects nominated by national juries in the individual EU member states. This year the financial rewards are higher than in previous years: the first prize will be awarded €7,500, second prize €5,000 and third prize €2,500.
Representatives of all 28 national winning projects will be invited to the Charlemagne Youth Prize award ceremony in Aachen in May 2017.

The rulesProjects must meet several criteria in order to qualify. They have to promote European and international understanding, foster the development of a shared sense of European identity and integration, as well as serve as a role model for young people living in Europe and offer practical examples of Europeans living together as one community.
