Eurogroup chief expects agreement on #GreekBailout by end of May

MEPs from across the political spectrum urged Greece’s creditors on Thursday (27 April) to swiftly conclude negotiations over the Greek bailout package, highlighting the pain which Greeks have endured.

The calls came during a debate on the second review of the Greek programme kicked off by President of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, who said he hoped the current review would be concluded before the end of May.
But before giving details of the status of negotiations of the Greek programme, Mr Dijsselbloem expressed regret for comments made to a German newspaper which were interpreted as a reference to southern European fiscal laxity.  “It was never my intention to cause offence,” he said.The minister’s apology was met with a mixed reaction.
