Mergers: Commission clears acquisition of Logstor by Triton
The European Commission has approved under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of Logstor (Denmark) by a private equity investment firm, the Triton Group (Jersey).
Logstor manufactures pre-insulated pipes used mainly for district heating and district cooling systems. Battenfeld-Cincinnati (BC), one of the companies ultimately controlled by Triton, is active in the production and sale of plastic processing machines including single screw extruders, a piece of machinery which is used in the production of pre-insulated pipes. The Commission concluded that the transaction would not lead to any anti-competitive effects given that BC's competitors would still have a sufficient number of alternative customers and Logstor's competitors would still have a sufficient number of alternative suppliers for both new extruders and spare parts. Moreover, BC lacks the incentives to discriminate against Logstor's competitors for both spare parts and after sales services. The operation was examined under the normal merger review procedure. More information will be made available on the Commission's competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.6922 .
