COP21: The road leading to vital climate-change conference in Paris

Parliament will send a delegation of 15 MEPs to the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) in December to help obtain a successful result. MEPs debate and vote on Parliament's position on Wednesday. Parliament will push to have two goals included in the final text : to limit the temperature increase to 2°C and to raise money for the Green Climate Fund.  By 2020 the fund  should make  $100 billion available each year to help developing countries adapt to climate change.

"We believe that the European Parliament should be at the forefront to ensure success at the COP 21, as this is the battle of the century," French S&D member said Gilles Pargneaux (S&D, FR) in an interview published in September. Pargneaux wrote the report on Parliament's position on COP21.
