Commissioner Georgieva visits Central African Republic with French Foreign Minister Fabius
International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva joins the French Foreign Affairs Minister Laurent Fabius, on a visit to the Central African Republic (CAR) on Sunday, 13 October.
This will be the second visit to CAR by Commissioner Georgieva, who first visited CAR in July 2013 together with UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos, to assess the dramatic humanitarian situation. Commissioner Georgieva, Minister Fabius and Under-Secretary-General Amos also jointly hosted a ministerial meeting on the humanitarian crisis in CAR and the international response at this year's UN General Assembly, on 25 September.
In CAR, Minister Fabius and Commissioner Georgieva will notably meet the transitional authorities, visit a nutrition centre for children that is supported both by France and the EU, and meet representatives of civil society.
