Hearings today (2 October): Hogan, Moscovici, Bieńkowska, Georgieva and Vestager

20140930PHT72277_originalPhil Hogan, Pierre Moscovici, Elżbieta Bieńkowska, Kristalina Georgieva and Margrethe Vestager are the next candidate commissioners to appear at the European Parliament for three-hour long interviews. Their competences and knowledge will be tested today (2 October) by the relevant parliamentary committees. Follow the meetings live and join the conversation on Parliament’s social media channels.

The hearings of nominees for the new Juncker Commission started on Monday. Click here for the recap on Storify of all the hearings so far. The hearings will end on 7 October.
Today, 2 October, the following hearings take place (all times are CET):

Phil Hogan, the Irish nominee for agriculture and rural development, will be heard by the agricultural committee from 9h. Watch it live here and follow the commitee tweets.
France's Pierre Moscovici is commissioner-designate for economic and financial affairs. He will be questioned by the economic and monetary affairs committee from 9h. Watch it live here and follow live tweets from the committee.

Elżbieta Bieńkowska, from Poland, has been assigned the portfolio for the internal market, industry, entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises. She will be questioned in a joint hearing of the industry, internal market and consumer protection committees from 13h30. Watch the hearing live and follow live tweets from the committees.
Bulgarian Kristalina Georgieva will face the budget and legal affairs committees over her proposed portfolio for budget and human resources from 13h30. Watch the hearing live and follow live tweets from the committees.

And finally Margrethe Vestager, from Denmark, will have to respond to questions about her competition portfolio when she appears in front of the economic and monetary affairs committee at 18h. Watch the hearing live and follow live tweets from the committee.
