Statement following David Cameron-Donald Tusk bilateral meeting
Following the 24 September meeting between UK Prime Minister David Cameron and European Council President Donald Tusk, a No. 10 spokesperson said: "The Prime Minister met with European Council President Donald Tusk this morning to discuss the renegotiation of the UK's relationship with the EU.
"They welcomed the progress in the ongoing technical talks that are focused on the four areas the UK is seeking reform - competitiveness; sovereignty; economic governance and access to social security.
"They discussed the process moving forward, agreeing that the October European Council would be the next staging post before further discussions with member states ahead of the December European Council."
