#LePen: French far-right politician Le Pen declares support for Brexit and says she may speak in London before referendum
Reports have emerged from France today (21 April) that Marine Le Pen (pictured), the leader of the Front National, may come to London and speak in support of the UK leaving the EU before the forthcoming June referendum. No date has yet been set.
Le Pen, who leads a Eurosceptic group of MEPs from several different countries in the European Parliament including South East England's Independent MEP, Janice Atkinson, cares deeply about individual nations being in control of their own affairs.
Former UKIP MEP Janice Atkinson (who has a new publication out on the European case for Brexit) welcomed the support from Le Pen: "She supports national border controls. She believes in the sovereignty of nations to elect their own representatives and she campaigns for the integration of all migrants and controlled numbers to protect French services. I campaign on these same issues on behalf of the UK."
Both Le Pen and Atkinson believe that a 'Leave' result in the UK will lead to major repercussions throughout Europe, where they say there is growing support for much looser ties with the political EU and increasing Euroscepticism.
