Brexit
#Brexit - Scotland and Europe

The Scottish Government’s clear aim of keeping Scotland in the EU, and if that’s not possible remaining within the Single Market and Customs Union, will be discussed at a series of meetings in Brussels today and tomorrow.
Minister for UK Negotiations on Scotland’s Place in Europe Michael Russell will meet with a number of MEPs including representatives from Ireland, Italy, Germany and Poland.
Speaking in advance of his meetings, Mr Russell said:
“As the next round of EU / UK negotiations get underway, it is important that we continue to make sure people know that Scotland’s preferred option is to stay within the EU or, if that is not possible, within the Single Market and Customs Union.
“This reflects the fact that the majority of people in Scotland voted to remain, and I’ll be meeting with key representatives, including MEPs from across Europe, to highlight our position.
“We will continue to seek to influence the UK position in the negotiations, and I hope progress can be made to help give businesses and individuals much needed clarity on what Brexit will mean for them.”
