#ViolenceAgainstWomen - Parliament buildings lit up in orange to raise awareness
Orange the World: International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women The European Parliament buildings in Brussels lit up in orange on 25 November to mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Every year the European Parliament takes part in the global initiative Orange The World to raise awareness and try and help prevent violence against women and girls.
This year the global initiative wants to highlight the voices of women and girl survivors of violence and support various women’s movements around the world.
"Support and solidarity of each and every one of us can encourage women to walk away from suffering. Today I would like to invite all of us to reflect upon this – the solution to the problem of violence starts with each and every one of us," said women’s rights committee chair Vilija Blinkevičiūtė, a Lithuanian member of the S&D group.
