Commissioner Stylianides welcomes Spanish contribution to #RescEU firefighting fleet
Today (9 July), Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Commissioner Christos Stylianides is visiting Madrid to welcome Spain's contribution to the RescEU initial transition fleet during a special visit at the the Torrejón air base. The Commissioner will also meet Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska and Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Minister Luis Planas Puchades to mark even closer co-operation in fighting forest fires in Europe and discuss the next steps for RescEU. Moreover, the commissioner will visit the National Forest Fire Information Co-ordination Centre and the European Union Satellite Centre. Under the new RescEU programme, Spain has put two firefighting airplanes at the disposal of the RescEU initial firefighting fleet.
