European Parliament - Public debate with #Huawei

Wednesday 16 October, 18-20h
European Parliament, Brussels, room ASP3G3, free and open entrance.This important public debate will allow you to ask questions about Huawei and the related digital and trade issues: Cybersecurity, 5G, espionage and backdoor allegations, China and China's National Intelligence Law, the US ban against Huawei, trade disputes, reciprocity, supply chains, etc.

The debate will be co-hosted by MEPs Pilar del Castillo (EPP group), Maria Grapini (S&D group), Bill Newton Dunn (Renew group) and Jan Zahradil (ECR group).

Abraham Liu, Huawei’s Chief Representative to the European Institutions, will be fielding questions on behalf of the company.

  • Minister Xia Xiang, Economic and Commercial Affairs, Mission of China to the EU
  • Dan Horia Maxim, Head of Unit and Trade policy coordinator, Permanent Representation of Romania to the EU
  • Turo Mattila, Chair of the EU Council’s horizontal working party on Cyber issues, Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU
  • Joakim Reiter, Director of External Affairs, Vodafone Group
  • Luigi Rebuffi, Secretary-General, European Cyber Security Organization (ECSO)
  • Luc Hindryckx, Director-General, European Competitive Telecommunications Association (ECTA)

Interpretation will be provided in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Romanian.

The debate will be followed by a cocktail reception in ASP00G 'La Brasserie' (the former MEPs restaurant) from 8pm to 9pm.
